If it’s important to his clients, it’s important to Cannon Lawley. Growing up working in a family-owned business, Cannon gained an intimate appreciation of the day-to-day realities facing business owners at a very early age. Garnered from these personal experiences, Cannon is committed to providing quality representation in a cost efficient manner and brings a common sense approach and result oriented mentality to serving his clients.
Cannon represents defendants in litigation matters ranging from product liability to employment discrimination. His experience includes handling cases in State and Federal trial and appellate courts in the practice areas of aviation, product litigation, municipal liability and § 1983 litigation, medical malpractice, environmental litigation, commercial and intellectual property disputes, employment discrimination and general defense litigation. In addition to litigation, Cannon also focuses on helping his clients avoid problems before they arise through the development of employment policies and procedures, transaction contracts and operating agreements for business entities.
Relying on his undergraduate education in Forest Resources and his practical experience in the management of family-owned timberland and real estate, one focus of Cannon’s practice has remained natural resource and real estate transactions and litigation. Cannon regularly assists real estate companies, individual and institutional landowners and timber companies in litigation and various transactions, including land and timber transactions, natural gas leases, surface use agreements and corporate structuring of ownership interests.
Away from the office, Cannon enjoys life with his wife, Lisa, and two daughters, Caroline and Anna Spencer. He also enjoys hunting, fishing and playing golf. Cannon serves as a member of the Alabama Land Recycling and Economic Development Commission, Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Advisory Council and the Governor’s One Shot Turkey Hunt Committee.
