Huie attorneys John Isaac Southerland and Woods Parker recently obtained a decision from the Supreme Court of Alabama affirming an award of attorney fees and costs in the Circuit Court of Madison County, Alabama, on behalf of Ford Motor Credit Company. In the underlying action, the trial court awarded all of the requested attorney fees and costs sought by Ford Motor Credit after Southerland and Parker successfully obtained a jury verdict of $100,000 for breach of promissory note and guaranty by a former dealership principal in a commercial litigation matter. The former dealership principal appealed the attorney fee and cost award claiming that it was unreasonable. The Supreme Court of Alabama affirmed the award without opinion. Mr. Southerland and Mr. Parker were counsel at trial and counsel for the appeal. They were assisted on the appeal by Jessica Ellsworth and Patrick Valencia of the Washington, D.C. office of Hogan Lovells.
