An Autauga County jury issued a defense verdict in a Ford case involving an explosion and ensuing fire in the cab of a Ford 150 truck. The explosion occurred while the vehicle was traveling on a dirt road in Billingsley, Alabama, at 15-20 mph. The resulting fire severely burned both passengers.
Plaintiffs alleged that the Ford 150 had a manufacturing defect in the fuel system which caused the explosion and fire in the passenger compartment. They asked for over 5.5 million dollars in damages.
Huie Fernambucq & Stewart attorneys Alan Thomas and Jeff Ash defended Ford and were able to disprove Plaintiff’s theory, showing the fire originated in the interior passenger side of the vehicle, not the engine compartment, and was unrelated to any alleged defect in the vehicle.
